Indy 50 years ago
In 1968 a couple of racers from CA. brought a new racing innovation with them to Indy and installed it in another racers Stocker. The car was said to pick up nearly 2 tenths. What was it? And no it wasn't a bottle of nitrous.LOL

Re: Indy 50 years ago
John Barkley held the record in I/SA in 1966 with a p/g in a ‘57 Chev. I think it may already have had an Opel converter in it. So that’s 2 years earlier and the Opel converter was a 9” , or so I thought it was. Don't really know as I never had one. Sedan deliveries were still popular in ‘68 and won some classes at Indy and other events. Most cars with powerglides were slower than hydro equipped SD’s. A lot slower sometimes. I don’t recall any other p/g cars starting to run fast until later than ‘68.....Barkley/Ripes were the first to run fast with a p/g. I bought an A-1 9" converter around 1979.
