Re: Strengthening Transmission parts?
Try cryogenic treating all the metal parts of the transmission. It worked real good on valve springs i was using. A friend has his metal brake rotors done on his road race car and he triple the life of the rotor. The company i used was 300 below in Indianapolis...Luke

Re: Strengthening Transmission parts?
Is REM finish an option? Seems like beyond the performance improvement may be stress riser reduction. Anyone?
Thanks BW |
Re: Strengthening Transmission parts?
I would suppose that some sort of stress relief and or surface treatment might help. It depends upon the part. The OE likely spent nothing in those areas. But then, the OE parts are often not made of good enough material to see big gains, either.

Re: Strengthening Transmission parts?
Thanks for the input. I have a 2oor4 trans and no aftermarket available so was just seeing if any other treatments would help.

Actually, you need to contact Scott McClay and Lonnie Diers in Ohio. They have a few parts for it. If he's still around, Bruce Toelle (sp?) at Performance Transmission in California had some stuff, too. By the way, avoid the TransGo shift kit stuff like the plague, it causes a ton of problems. Use Sonnax and Superior instead, you'll be much happier. |
