Stock eliminator 1958
 
I just watched a video of the 1958 Big Go it was in Oklahoma, There were so many entries they did not allow any Stock Eliminator entries that year. I wonder how long it will take for NHRA to look into that again?

never, i would happily buy and build another car if there was a local of divisonal association that used the old rules

Had no Christmas trees back then, had flagmen. "Red lights" were by opinion.
Around here we got a 25' spot per class. Much different back then.

is there a copy that could be put up, I would be interested in looking at the old rules.

Tracks near me in Maryland had a Red Light button positioned on the track in front of the starter. . The Green starter flag was positioned on the button and a red light would be shown if the driver/car moved before the flag was raised. Not rocket science but effective.

I remember headers and/or open exhaust were not allowed before 1961. Jim Wangers won S/S in 1960 with his SD 389 Royal Pontiac Catalina using the factory streamlined factory NASCAR type exhaust manifolds. Recapped tires like Casler and Atlas Bucrons were the best tires at that time.
