Re: Old E-Town Photos
There were so many great shots taken over the years by a lot of photographers. For the May issue of Drag Racing Edge, I have tentatively planned a sort of dedication to the track that spawned so many of our careers in the sport. It comes out late May and would have been the issue we would have handed out at the 48th running of the Summernationals. Re: Old E-Town Photos
Speaking of photos and Englishtown, one story
I had become friends with Steve Collison from Super Stock and drag Illustrated. He stopped by my pit area at E'town. Steve loved stick shift stockers and that is all I have ever had. We decided to go up into the stands and watch the Pro session. Steve spots a bunch of his Photog buddies and we sit with them. Steve and I are sitting down talking and everyone else is standing. Steve says to me "It's Garlits , guess we should stand up and watch" It was the blowover run, unbelievable. The one thing that I remember is as it was happening, in a sea of photographers, you distinctly heard the sound of all the guys motorwind cameras taking pic after pic, kinda a click then zzzz then another click zzzz. A great memory of a spectacular event with a friend that left us way to soon |
