Re: NMCA NHRA Conflicting races
AND THE POINT IS WHAT ? ... There's only so many weekends per year. (That's never changed in the history of time.) I've raced every year for 45years. (For 11 of those years I ran "every" IHRA National Event.) Not once did any Sanctioning Body(s) call me up and ask what my schedule was for the up coming season! ( The fact is they don't care.) I learned about "choices" at a very young age. If you love this sport - make a "tentative" schedule at the beginning of the season based on the available races, ( Sanctioning Bodies make schedules available to us, in advance, as quickly as they can put their deals together with track owners). Check your wallet, time available, and have at it ...What's the big deal? ... (And the last time I checked - no one was making me do this !) - The next thing I'll hear is, "IF" all the sanctioning bodies got together, and made a annual race schedule with no conflicting dates I'd go to every race ....ya OK - maybe if they add a class for keyboards !

Re: NMCA NHRA Conflicting races
I took his point to be NMCA might get some more participants if their schedule wasn't mirroring another sanctioning body.

Re: NMCA NHRA Conflicting races
I would hardly call Atlanta and Las Vegas a scheduling conflict! Same with several others on your list. 1500-2000 miles between events isn't going to pull from the same pool of participants.
I ran my first NMCA race this year and had a good time. Different from NHRA but certainly not bad. The NMCA fills a market in the drag racing world and looks to be successful in doing so. Just look at their midway compared to NHRA's. Like Jim said, make your choice and support the races that you can. I'll run a full NHRA schedule in 2018 and support NMCA for a few races as well. |

AND THE POINT IS WHAT ?
Well, Jim Bailey and Whalen 3186 if you will notice that I started off by saying FYI. I always thought that meant "For Your Information". There was no "Point" intended only a FYI. I just though I would take some of my spare time and do a service for the members of the forum that might be busy and not have time to compile a list for themselves. I didn't mean to slander or demean any racer's choices. I had no comment about "Why" NHRA & NMCA chose to put races close to one another. (Like others on this and other forums have been doing) It also looks my choice of the word Conflicting might have not suited you Whalen 3186. I guess I should have used "Same Day NMCA & NHRA Races" FYI : That is it... I'm out! |

Damn'd if you do and Damn'd if you don't..... They surely did not mean it the way it came out, sometimes the keyboard mentality just takes over ......No harm Buddy. Appreciate all the help and info. RJ |
Re: NMCA NHRA Conflicting races
None of them conflict with an IHRA event!!

Re: NMCA NHRA Conflicting races
Adger: Thank You, for your time and effort in putting together a schedule showing the conflicting NMCA / NHRA races for 2018. Your published schedule, in addition to Michael Beard's annual publication of every weekend scheduled races, should really help all racers "choose" their races and plan their tentative their schedules for 2018. Also, "I did notice" you started your post with "FYI". And once again , thank you for pointing out to everyone what that means .... I did however notice you finished your post with - and I quote, " I guess you noticed that all six NMCA races are in conflict with at least one NHRA race." I'm sorry, but that sounded like a sarcastic shot at NMCA, and if it wasn't, I apologize to you ! ....in all seriousness... maybe the NHRA races are conflicting with all six of the NMCA races..??..just saying.

Re: NMCA NHRA Conflicting races
Here's another FYI: NMCA success hasn't come from incorporating Stock and Super Stock!
Jim, you won the first NMCA race that added Stock and Super Stock. I get it. That race was on top of the Gainesville points race, which means you couldn't go to the G-ville race that was less than 100 miles away. In reviewing that race it was like shooting fish in a barrel for you. Jim . |
