Indy Youtube???

I didn't want to derail the "Live From Indy" thread - blog Patsy Hill has started (btw Patsy, great work, keep it coming!!).

However I am hoping some of the more technical saavy class racers attending Indy brought their digital camcorders and are planning to upload some footage to Youtube for those of us who aren't able to attend. What's better, this could be a milestone for class racing, breaking throught the media barrier reserved, until recently, only to the pros.:D:D:D

Yes! Contingency for those to post whole rounds of Stock and Superstock with a reference of Fuller contingency will receive that...The fisrt full round of competition being class races and or rounds of racing on You Tube will receive $25 through Fuller Performance Enterprizes..that's up to 7 rounds of stock 7 rounds of superstock and up to 4 rounds of Class. So that's a total of $550 dollars I will pay contincency for those interested. Payees will receive a check from Fuller Performance Enterprizes..Don't worry Dad. Ill give you the money up front. SO, up for grabs is $25/full round of us nationals racing on Youtube with a reference of Fuller Contincency...14 rounds of eliminations. and 8 rounds of class in Stock and Superstock. Now That is a small price to pay for the world to watch the greatest Class racing spectical on the Planet..Jason fuller

Clarification

The FIRST posted on you tube makes contincency requirements. So this is easy money for the final rounds atleast. fullerj9@msu.edu is where to contact me. please contact me there when you post and I can confirm. I am solely responsible for this and Mike fuller has nothing to do with this. He can write the checks, but its my money. So please take good film with the announcer in background from a place somewhere we can see the launch and there times and cross the finish line. Remember, this is for the World to see and not just a stunt for me to watch. Contribute to something you love. This is my way of saying thank you. Jason

Well, I'm going, and I'm taking my digital HD camcorder with me. But, I don't know that I can film every single pair of every single round. I mean, I can, but that's a LOT of tape, and a LOT of battery usage. But, I'll see what I can do. I taped a bunch of rounds from Epping, but I never uploaded them to anything. I'm pretty sure you need a Firewire cable, and I don't have Firewire port on my laptop (stupid IBMs). But again, I'll see what I can do.

I know it will be hard, but well worth is Jason. If you need help, I recommend seeing Larry and Patsy or The McFarland Bunch. I know The McFarland Crew really likes video of these events. Just do What ever You can. Racers help each other out and this is for a Great Cause! Our Cause!

I'll look Larry and Patsy up when I get there. FYI, I won't be filming anything tomorrow...it's a 9 hour drive for me, so I won't be doing anything but driving tomorrow. Hope to have updates for you on Friday...

Not sure, but you may need a pro account to post vids that long. The ones I posted took hours to post and that was only 6 of them.

Re: Indy Youtube???

Well, the good news is that I made it here safely, and that I got over 2 hours of HD video, most of S/S class eliminations. The bad news is that I currently don't have any way to get it off of the video camera and onto a PC, nor will I probably have time to get the video transferred. The local CompUSA's don't stock the IEEE 1394 PCMCIA adapter I need, and there was no way to order one to get it shipped here for today (I got here too late).

All that said, I don't think posting all the video on YouTube was realistic. I took a 15 second 240 x 180 (or something like that) video earlier today with my cameraphone, and that was 500kb in size. You can only imagine what 2 HOURS of HD video would be size wise. So, to do it, not only would it probably take hours and hours and hours to transfer the video to the PC, but then it would take countless more hours to try to edit the stuff in an attempt to distill it down to the bare minimum to make it postable on YouTube.

I haven't completely given up hope yet, but at this point I'm not very optimistic either. We'll see...I'm off to Wal-Mart tomorrow morning to buy more tapes. Maybe by some stroke of luck they'll have the IEEE 1394 adapter that I need (I could really use another rechargeable battery too, as the two that I have barely made it through S/S class elims!)

You know what Jason? Even if you can't get it done, it was a great effort and I salute you for even undertaking such a project! Thanks. jim
