I was right behind him... the track was marginal at best all weekend. The rain just killed everything.

He launched hard but got out of the groove and tried to fight back with no luck. It was a sad sight to see.

Lot's have watched John Force do it for many years and somehow pull it out...just can't remember ever seeing it done with any success at the lower levels.

As an NHRA announcer for 32 years, I have seen plenty of saves at "the lower levels." You know you're going to try. It's our natural instinct. Some people are more lucky than others. And we've all seen the rookie mistakes. Like that red Vette at Fontana over the weekend. Senselessly destroyed his car.

All I can say is to save one in Stk/SS is almost unheard of...there would have to be something terribly wrong in the other lane as well.

Have had a couple of runs that got really ugly, lifted and everything lived to race another day. Leave the hero driving to someone else.
