Building 69 Biscayne 427 335h.p. H/SA. First stocker I have ever built. Anyone have any good advise or tips? Any info about this combo? Let me know. Thanks Scott. Biscayne@aol.com

I believe that is what Steve Hauter (D5 - MN) races. He is accomplished and knowledgeable about what is required to run fast. I think after a LONG time racing that car he has it so it will run +/- .500 under. Based on that and that alone, it's not a project I would tackle. I would suggest more homework is in order.

Motor looks like a pretty soft deal. Just like a 396- 325 except 31 more cubes with only a 10 hp. hit. I don't know how much that big body would hurt, but the motor looks okay.

It's not as soft as you'd think. The weak intake (unless it has a much better intake than most of the oval port Q-Jet 427's I've seen) and the small (.398" lift) hydraulic cam will make it hard to feed those extra cubic inches. Most of the guys I know who have to run that real small hydraulic cam really struggle.

Alan, I can see where that would be a problem, '66 283's are .399 lift. I'd bet it would be tough to make power with.............

Where's that fella from NY (I think) who was a frequent visitor to this site? He built that '68 Impala 396-325 4-speed Stocker a few years back...I think that motor's similar and maybe he can give you some help? I saw him run once when he was trying out the combo....Yours and his are tough ones to make run....I think his name was Will?

There's a lot of difference between feeding a 283 with less than 0.400" lift and feeding a 427 with less than 0.400" lift.

but not so much difference than feeding a 396...and those do pretty good...still........just would be hard to get anywere in that very heavily populated class...would love to see one though...

Looks like about 510 hp to run a second under. That's less than 1.2 hp per cube. Doesn't look too bad.
Gotta get that nose back down after launch. Lotta wind resistance.
