John Turley
Long time D-4 Super Stock racer John Turley has passed away. John was a great guy and a great drag racer. His Ford Mustang Super Stocker was a bad boy car. May he RIP.

Re: John Turley
SO sorry! John was one of the 'big guys' when I first started stocker racing in D4. He was always friendly and polite to us beginners, and a serious competitor.

Re: John Turley
Gosh, I'm sorry to hear that news known John since the early 60's. Before his Mustang Super stock days he was a terror in modified with his 61 Plymouth wedge car. He also had a 64 or 65 Plymouth (old Fender/Tubbs car). Have not seen Johnny in years, a great racer may he rest in peace.

He was a great racer but most of all he was a great friend. Also the reason for me wanting to do big wheelstands so thank you John. RIP

Re: John Turley
Yet another ford great racer gone. Was my Idol for a time when I first started racing class in 79 John Turley and Jeff Velde were the fast fords that I watched with envy.
Kuntz and I were just talking and remembering about him today at lunch. RIP John hope to have a rematch some day. |
Re: John Turley
Very sad to read this. Met him when I was kid, too many fast Ford guys gone. Hey Jeff tell Kuntz to get back to work we need him!!! LOL

Re: John Turley
I also will miss John. He attended many of the tough stock/super stock events at the East Texas mecca where I cut my teeth...East Texas Dragway.
RIP (ok, a little header noise) John, Glen Tinsley |
