Q-Jet fuel system for the Super 10
For next season I will change from the 585 Quick Fuel to a Q-jet.
I am not happy with the fuel system now so will start over with Q-Jet and proven fuel system. For those of you experienced Q-Jet racers please tell me about your fuel system. Thank You |
Re: Q-Jet fuel system for the Super 10
I recommend you go with a large return style pump to tank. # 8 line to reg. mounted ahead of engine on inner fender and # 8 to the carb. Be careful to avoid aerating the fuel with your return line and mount the FP relay close to the pump in an accessible area. Also watch your microns on the filters you plan on using.

Probably the best on the market would be Weldon. I like what I see with Aeromotive, the A2000. IMO

Re: Q-Jet fuel system for the Super 10
Basic problem with QJets is the single needle and seat and the very small bowl volume. Take a look at the MagnaFuel stuff. It is hard to beat and their regulator has the best "droop" curve in the industry. Of course, just like anal ports and opinions......everybody has one. :D

What pressure & size inlet seat do you guys use?

Re: Q-Jet fuel system for the Super 10
I would talk to Danny Ashley.

Re: Q-Jet fuel system for the Super 10
Larry, changing to a bypass setup on my QJet stocker and running a #8 line back to the tank stabilized the fuel pressure. The fuel and pump are both cooler since the pump isn't pounding away on the same fuel like in a dead head regulator setup. Unless you've changed pumps since your build, you're also using the Quick Fuel #30-175 pump?
Thumbs up for Danny Ashley, as well. :) -Al |

Alan, Yes, you are correct about fuel pump. What bypass reg are you using?

Re: Q-Jet fuel system for the Super 10
Larry,
Q jets like high flow and low pressure. I run 6 lbs at the regulator. My set up is old school. 2 holley type blue pumps, 2 # 8 lines to the front and an Aerospace regulator # 8 to the carb. dead head. This has been very reliable. As far as carbs go if you can get your hands on a Boburka carb there is none better. |
