SBC O rings on Dist?

Re: SBC O rings on Dist?

it is a reasonable question. I have never installed them but on the other hand, I expect it will not hurt anything.

Yet, I am considering all the Chevy engines running without them

Just a thought,

The stock Chevrolet blocks and distributors are cast iron with tight clearances on the OD & ID.........

MSD is aluminum and is a fits all......

The "O" rings couldn't hurt, but only help getting oil with the least amount of leakage to the lifter galley...

Just my 2 cents,
Bob

OK OK OK

Don't get all wadded up, I just had a brain fart.............

But everything else is correct......

Do it or don't do, it works either way?????????????????

Again I revert back to.........What could it hurt it could only help

Have fun,
Bob

PS:
My engine oil primer is made from an old cast iron distributor body......
But that's probably 50 years old..........
Just sayin'

I've heard that bronze distributor gears wear less quickly with a little groove in the distributor body and no O rings. That arrangement seemed to help the looks of my bronze gear.

A + Ron
Use the top one and leave the bottom one off.
I like the slot leading the gear contact slightly.
Gear gets a little oil.

Re: SBC O rings on Dist?

I have always used a slot filed in the bottom, aimed at the dist. gear. and have wondered about using the top O ring and no bottom. once again Adger the experienced one, confirms. thanks guys.
