nhra records
Hi guys. I was hoping somebody here could answer a question about nhra records.
What does "Minimum" mean on this recent Stock Eliminator page: http://www.nhra.net/stats/stk_record.html I'm asking because if you go to this page for Stock Eliminator 01/07/2009: http://sportsman.nhra.com/content/ab...rticleid=34588 You find out Sam Murray had a record J/S time of 11.37 which is lower than the new "Minimum." Do they toss out prior records when they change class indexes or hp factors? |
Re: nhra records
records expire every 2 years.

Re: nhra records
"Minimum" means no one currently holds the record. NHRA has established that the minimum for a record is .5 under the class index. Records expire after 2 years if no one betters them.
Racers can only set records at national opens or points races and only during designated run sessions. A racer must declare he is making a record run for the run to count as a record. If a racer doesn't want to set a record, they can still run faster than the minimum and it will not count as a new record. If a racer sets a record, he has to back it up and then the engine is torn down and inspected. |
