Changing Hauler 22.5 tire size

My 2011 Showhauler, with a single rear axle, came with 275/80R22.5 rear tires. In the big truck world, 11R22.5 is a common size, which is one inch larger in diameter and has a greater load rating. Has anyone switched to the 11R22.5's? It would be feasible to run these tires for maybe three years, and then be able to sell them to a trucker who will wear them out, instead of just throwing them away after maybe five years. I am pulling a 28 ft. trailer, with only one car and a pit cart, so I doubt the 450 HP engine will suffer from the change in over-all gear ratio.

as long as the will fit on your body and the wheels are the correct width for the tires it should work great.

Jeff, I assume that is a Michelin (they got them oddball 80's). Pull up the specs on the net and look at diameter of what you have and revolutions per mile to see how much effect it will have on your power etc. Yes, the 11/22 is about the most common out there, but the 275 is becoming more available. Firestone took a good Bridgestone (both owner by Bridgestone) and renamed it a Firestone and shortened the price and only make it in the popular sizes. Worth looking at.

Mr. Teuton, what is the model name/number of the Firestone you mentioned? Also wondered why my Hauler came with steer tires all the way around. Seems like it would be a good idea to have tires on the drive axle with some kind of all-weather tread pattern at least. First time out with this rig, got stuck at Indy.

Those tires are available, but must be ordered when truck is built. I will have to get the Firestone number for you.
