Butch leal

Hello,
I am seeking a photo of Butch Leal racing a 1964 Plymouth belvedere max wedge aluminum front end car in or around Jan. of 1964.
Thanks

Butch was under contract with Mickey Thompson and Ford in late 1963 and through 1964. He ran a lightweight 1963 Galaxie in the second half of 1963 and a 1964 Thunderbolt in all of 1964. I highly doubt he would have been allowed in a Mopar in 1964. Of course in 1965 he did switch to Plymouth.

Yes.. and I am somewhat familiar with his 64 thunderbolt and the 1965 plymouth. I am trying to figure out if he did drive or own a 64 plymouth max
wedge briefly. I have an article from a race in Jan 5th 1964 out of California... where he matched up against Tom Groves 1964 plymouth max wedge the missile. It states Butch Leal drove the same kind of car against him. I had the pleasure of speaking with Art Carr from Art carr transmissions out of Los Angelos and told me he did drive a 64 plymouth max wedge auto. I was surprised to hear this. Art Carr worked on just about all the superstock autos. back then. Does Butch Leal have an email address?
I appreciate the responses... Thanks

I think Butch passed away a year or two ago.

I'm sure Butch would be amazed to hear this as he is very much alive and well....

Sorry for the misinformation, Don't remember where I got that but very glad I was wrong on his passing.

Butch Leal never had a '64 max wedge car. He ran the Thunderbolt all through '64.In fact he and Tommy Grove had a match race at Fremont late in the year. According to Butch, Mickey Thompson had a disagreement with Ford and the car was CRUSHED! The 427 wedge went into Tommy Grove's "Charlie Horse" mustang for a couple of weeks until he got the Cammer engine. Then Tommy got a stretched car in '66, the "Ford Charger" Butch did have two A990 '65 cars though. He had one in '65 at the same time he ran the altered wheelbase car. He later bought another '65 Plymouth from Larry Apodaca.
