Need NHRA classification for corvette

I am building a 1956 Corvette with a stock 265ci, 2-4s and I would like to know if anyone knows what letters I should put on the window if I were to run in the stock class in the late '50s-'60s (A/S, B/S, C/S etc.) or something else. After looking up some #s, I come up with 2730 lbs. (curb wt.) @ 240HP. Thanx in advance.

Easy to register for Dwight's excellent resource....you'll have subsequent questions and with his 'tool' it's easy to investigate.

Unless I misunderstood the question, it is what class WOULD it have run back in the late 60's-early 70's ?

Not todays class.

Someone have an old classification guide?

The weight and horsepower factors should be the same today as they were back in the day, so the '56 Corvette with the 225 HP 265 CI Automatic @ 2844 lbs had a factor of 12.64 pounds per horsepower. According to the 1966 NHRA rule book, that would be a G/SA @ 12.50 to 13.99 lb/hp. Sounds like a fun project!
