Portatree mini vs full size tree.

Going to get a practice tree. Anybody used the Portatree mini tree compared to the full size model? Thanks Tony

I have both. I have found that what works best for me is a true simulation. Full size tree at the correct distance with bulbs, sitting in my car and using a brake pedal mounted switch. It has helped with making my realtime reactions much more consistent. The little tree is good for reflexes only for me. PS yes, my neighbors think I am weird! LOL

My experience with a full size practice tree is positive, As posted above, I rigged up to simulate being at the track.

The result, I remember thinking when at the races, "this is just like practice"

That was years ago and I no longer do the full tree practice at home, yet, those lessons are always with me.

For me, the lesson was to relax, it's just like practice.

I use the full size tree with LED bulbs. It's in my garage and I have the car wired with a disconnect to hook my transbrake button up. I can sit in the car and practice just like at the track.

Before I had the practice tree I was an average .080 to .120 bulb racer on a .400 pro tree. With some time working on practicing I'm a consistent .030 to .040 light. Making some car changes to get down in the teens/twenties for 2016.

Well worth the expense for me.

I think the National Event Tree is better for a true simulation. You can sit in your car and setup the tree ~40ft away and practice. It is like being at the race track.

The Portatree Mini is better if you plan to travel or have limited setup space. It is easy to keep in a trailer.
