"Street" Bracket Racing

Why isn't their any "street" bracket racing? I know there's footbrake but I'm talking about DOT tires, inspections and driving the car in. I guess I'm trying to say a trophy class where you run for a trophy or a couple hundred dollars.

Thanks :)

Milan Dragway runs a trophy class but not very often. Its cheap to enter and is designed for rookie racers. Bad part is that they allow anybody to run in it so people will jump in it to get cheap practice which defeats the purpose in my opinion. Last time I ran in it I had to race my 14.25 daily driver against an 8.90 FED. Beat him though and scored my first ever trophy.

Something like that but put a max et on it. I really want to bracket race but I know my car isn't consistent enough to run in a footbrake race against purpose built cars. I want to try it out first and see how I like it.

Re: "Street" Bracket Racing

Pine Valley in Lufkin, Texas will run one if enough cars show up. They run it 1/4 mile while their Super Pro and Pro class are only 1/8. It's a nice class and I like my wife to run it in our car since she is a newbie and still needing lots of practice on the tree and racing the stripe. However, it's not usual for us to try to enter it and be the only car there that night wanting to run street. We just end up running TNT so that she can get passes. It's a shame but doesn't seem like new blood coming into the sport.

Around here there is a street class with a 13.50 limit. Quicker than that and you break out. There is also a sports compact class which is basically any fwd ****box whether it's a honda or a cavalier. No et limit but it's from 20 sec street cars to "all out" ****boxes running 12's or so.

At our local strip, we have a street class.
11.95 or slower.
No electronics.
.600 Pro Tree
Has to be street legal, which means DOT tires.
It is a hotly contested class by some people and one of our guys runs both Modified and Street in his 4th generation SS Camaro.

Greer dragway had run a strictly street class this last year must be taged and the driver couldnt drive in any other classes that day.

I like that idea.
