For all the stockers and super stockers who either do it along with race or have a friend or wife do it, what kind of camera do you use to catch good shots? Being our cars move at such a high frame rate im unsure what camera is should tell my girlfriend to get. Any info or help is greatly appreciated!!!

In the car or from the sidelines? All of the in car stuff is done with a GoPro as far as I can tell. My other hobby is photography and I shoot with a Canon 7D but it's a pretty high end camera. Look for photos from the Pacific Raceways Stock Superstock Combo on this forum for my photos.

Like Dale mentioned, it all depends on what kind of pictures you plan on taking. The GoPro Hero-series, ReplayXD and the Wasp Video camera will all take excellent in-car (and with the right mounts, on-car) video. GoPro also has it's own editing software which is easy to use to convert the raw video into something you can share on YouTube and Instagram.
Speaking from my experience, for a good Digital Single Lens Reflex (DSLR) camera, your only limitation is your budget! Seriously, all of the major manufacturers make an entry-level camera body with interchangeable lenses in the $200 to $300 range. Find a camera store that has a good selection so you can get a feel for the different sizes that are available. A DSLR with a medium lens and as many mega-pixels as you can afford is a good camera to start with, as you can accessorize later with different lenses and attachments as your skills improve. The one great thing about digital photography is that you can take as many pictures as you want and there's no processing fee at Walgreens! Good luck and I hope you'll share your pictures here on ClassRacer! |

Before making a investment, if you are looking to get still photos, take a entry level, beginner photography class, many local towns and school districts have basic courses, best thing I ever did, learned why the best photographers have those huge long lenses.
