Surefire way to make AHFS work
There is a quick way to make the AHFS (automatic hp factoring system) work. Soft combos continually will not qualify or make elimination runs faster than -1,00 under the index. I would try and combat that by giving anyone that qualifies better than -1.00 gets a first rd bye. Now that's a reason to cut her loose. First rd is always the toughest to get past.
Reward those that want to run fast... BUT, they will also be excellerating the review process. ps.... Had too much time, while it rained here in Charlotte.... mind was in high gear...lol |

Interesting
What about basing AHFS on 1000 ft times? Also factor in weather conditions as a buffer |
Re: Surefire way to make AHFS work
How about eliminating the average, it appears difficult to administer anyway. Two runs of 1.000 under gets HP. Have 4 reviews a year in lieu of 2. Tweak current mineshaft rule to account for races with exceptionally good air. With the current mineshaft rule, only the U.S. Nationsls will meet the rule and that race is not exactly mineshaft conditions!

Re: Surefire way to make AHFS work
How about doing away with the ridiculous AHFS, the new cars are in their own classes, go back to the way it was. The Factory cars the NHRA refused to correct their HP ratings, they are no longer a factor to the older cars. This is BS, is this stock/superstock or a bracket race?? Isnt this suppose to be a performance class? For the last few years class racing has totally sucked. Is everyone scared of working on their combos?? Let it rip. BTW, how many heads up races, besides class does a racer have a year??

Run off national records????. Wow, this sounds brutal. I can't imagine running off a national record. This means I would have to work on my combo. I hope this dosn't happen, said the rabbit.

Re: Surefire way to make AHFS work
I like the idea of rewarding fast cars. Why not points for number one qualifier, national records, and class wins? If this is a class that should reward going the extra mile for heads-up racing then let's put the money where the mouth is.
How about a complete revision where every single run made by a combo is calculated for it's true horsepower and the average of the top-10 runs is the rated horsepower. For combos with less than 10 runs all of the first 10 runs count. Any runs calculated hp that isn't within 10% of the highest hp run are tossed from the official calculation. Thus if someone bombs it they can't play possum and bring it down but a hard workign person who is close can adjust it slightly for the masses. This can be done with an Excel spreadsheet and ends all bogus HP cars old and new. Then cut classes so there are more heads-up run and bring in sponsors to put money into class run-offs. Right now why would any sponsor pay for "Class" when there are so many classes with so few cars in each? There have been ~170 participants year to date in Super Stock, but there are what 98 classes!? The odds of a heads-up run in the eliminator is nearly zero, it becomes a bracket race. |
