Qatar is a leading exporter of natural gas and crude oil and a member of OPEC. With crude down below $60 a barrel a lot of their income has gone away. While ties to some questionable doings by their government the Sheik was a big ambassador of racing. I saw him hand a competitor a check for $10000 after he crashed at an ADRL event to help with his rebuild. Most knew it would not last forever but ultimately his government/family controlled the funding.

So the picture reveals that all those American people stuck in traffic with them burning up gas , are really the major supporters of Ala Nabi racing . Should of been called American People Racing ?

Read on another forum that Daddy closed the wallet to focus on building soccer stadiums. Daddy is also buying up lots of prime real estate in London.

Technically, they only withdrew from North American drag racing. They are still spending a lot of money in the Arabian Drag Racing League (in Qatar). Khalid Al Balooshi apparently set the world record in Pro Mod on Feb 5th in Qatar. They may have just been doing some information gathering over here.
