Northeast blizzard

Well it looks like the Snow Gods are at it again. Expecting about 2 Feet of the white stuff. Can't wait for the winter to be over and back to racing.

I sure do like living in the south, lol. Track 5 miles from home was running yesterday. Good luck and stay warm!

The south has some advantages. Raced Gainesville sat. Was a high of 62, adj alt 950' with a 10-20 MPH tail wind! It was a day that made you look good that is for sure. But like anything down here, if you don't like the weather just wait 15min it will change! Nothing beats racing during the summer nights and you have to use a squeegy to get the humidity off the window so you can race... LOL... Or literally seeing a wall of rain just past the finish line while standing on the starting line in the blazzing sun...

Enjoyed a day of snowmobiling yesterday with my daughter Kelly and here husband Jeff. Weekend before last, Patty and I hit the trails . Love the winter wonderland, scenery you can't imagine and great people you meet. Get out there and enjoy winter. I may not be this happy plowing and moving snow for the next 2 days, but it isn't any worse than changing a trans in 90 degree weather.

I remember racing in the summer of '78, at a track in Tyler, Texas, called I-20 Dragway. Some days it was well over 100 degrees. I remember us making a time trial, then sitting in the crew cab with the AC on, til time for the next pass. Sometimes we'd hear over the local radio, that it was still 100 degrees or more at 6pm. How many of you guys remember the 5-amber tree ? You can see one in the 1st pic below.

One night that summer, at an IHRA points race, we kept doing everything we could to cool TJ's '68 Bird between rounds. We used ice and garden sprayers, and pushed it all the way from the pits to the front of the staging lanes, every round. But it was worth all the trouble and sweat. TJ won the race from the bump spot in a 16 car field, and got a little ink in the "Drag Review" ! :D

Still waiting on more than just an annyoing amout of snow. From last night at this time till right now, we maybe got 3" of what would be good snowblower stuff, if there was enough of it to use the machine in, instead of the leafblower. Compared to 4 years ago, we got nothin'. As far as racing when it is 95*,after living in Fla. for 23 years I would rather sweat than shivver anyday. John Kissel
