Hydraulic Rollers

Who makes the lowest "plunge" hydraulic roller, or is that the result area
to be looking at? J.R.

Re: Hydraulic Rollers

We have run several Hydraulic roller cam engines, Ford and Chevrolet using production lifters with no issues. Keep in mind they are relatively low lift Crate motor stock cams. Maybe WE are missing out on some performance but never any problems. Louis Jeffery

Re: Hydraulic Rollers

Hi Lou, thanks for the reply. I'm not having any problem with mine, it is that when I checked them, they drop 145 thousands, and to be legal
I can run one's that only drop 30 thou. Sounds like leaving a lot on the table to me. J.R.

Re: Hydraulic Rollers

When they are running, they wont drop any. You are just measuring the total range that is built into the lifter plunger.

Re: Hydraulic Rollers

SS3011, interesting. I am trying to learn about hydraulic rollers as I have never run them before. It's interesting the different opinions you can get.
I have had 2 people(1 Racer, 1 Manufacturer) tell me they have back to backed cars at the track, changing oil from 5/20 to 20/50 to keep the lifters "up", and both picked up .03-.04. Keep in mind they also had to overcome the difference in the oil. True story? Who the hell knows.
I'm just trying to buy the right stuff once, instead of twice. J.R.

Re: Hydraulic Rollers

JR, It isn't very hard to restrict the travel in a hyd. lifter, once you get one apart.
Just have to use good grade, consistent thickness washers. (aviation grade or similar), once you figure out what you need.
Then you won't have to worry about it.
