Re: NHRA Releases New Class Indexes
I really appreciate the help to celebrate Thanksgiving by lowering my index by .25 in every class I have run. Thanks. I wonder why I could not get this when I asked for it for my 69 Super Bee. Thanks NHRA.

Re: NHRA Releases New Class Indexes
From what used to be SS/EA to SS/KA the hit is progressive from ..10 to .25. I am so good I am the only car in the nation to get the .25 since I am the only new car in SS/KA thru Nitro Joe's Sept Book.

For a little easier comparison:
STOCK Class Weight Break Index FS/A 6-6.49 9.70 (old AAA/S; same index) FS/B 6.50-6.99 10.00 (old AA/S; same index) FS/C 7-7.49 10.30 (old BB/S, same) FS/D 7.50-7.99 10.60 (old CC/S; same) FS/E 8-8.49 10.95 (old A/S; same) FS/F 8.50-8.99 11.20 (old B/S; same) FS/G 9-9.49 11.35 (old C/S; same) FS/H 9.50-9.99 11.50 (old D/S; same) FS/I 10.00-10.49 11.65 (old E/S; same) FS/J 10.50-10.99 11.80 (old F/S; same) FS/K 11.00-11.49 11.90 (old G/S; same) FS/L 11.50 or more 12.00 (old H/S; same) SUPER STOCK Class Weight Break Index FSS/A 5-5.49 8.80 (old SS/AAA; same) FSS/B 5.5-5.99 9.20 (old SS/BB) FSS/C 6-6.49 9.65 (old SSA) FSS/D 6.5-6.99 9.90 (old SS/B) FSS/E 7-7.49 10.05 (old SS/C) FSS/F 7.5-7.99 10.20 (old SS/D) FSS/G 8-8.49 10.25 (old E) FSS/H 8.5-8.99 10.35 (old F) FSS/I 9-9.49 10.45 (old G) FSS/J 9.5-9.99 10.55 (old H) FSS/K 10-10.99 10.55 (old I) FSS/L 11-11.99 10.80 (old J) FSS/M 12 or more 11.00 (old K) SUPER STOCK GT Class Weight Break Index GT/FSA 8-8.49 10.00 (GT/A) GT/FSB 8.5-8.99 10.10 (B) GT/FSC 9-9.49 10.20 (C) GT/FSD 9.50-9.99 10.35 (D) GT/FSE 10-10.49 10.50 (E) GT/FSF 10.5-10.99 10.60 (F) GT/FSG 11-11.49 10.75 (G) GT/FSH 11.5-11.99 10.85 (H) GT/FSI 12-12.49 10.95 (I) GT/FSJ 12.5 or more 11.05 (J) New Classes all use the stick Index; sticks and autos are combined in the new Classes. The corresponding stick Indexes are the same, new class vs old. |
Re: NHRA Releases New Class Indexes
There are many who have campaigned NHRA to combine stick and automatic classes for years. Well it has happened to the new factory classes.
Let the whining begin. And let this be a lesson to the racers in all the other stock and S/S classes. When classes get combined, looks like the index will change to the stick index. Be careful what you wish for. |

There's a difference between personal agendas and what's good for the sport. Aren't we always saying how this a performance-oriented sport? More potential heads-ups are a good thing... granted, there will actually be LESS with addition of Factory classes, but if they do combine 'traditional' classes down the road, there would be more... Which would yield half the cost of Class trophies, virtually eliminates the 'need' for a Class "Combo", more competition for a Class win, etc. If it's really that big of a deal, they could institute weight breaks for automatics like they do in the GT Truck categories, etc. Could probably use some tweaking in the lower classes, but right noe you've got higher classes with often only .05-.10 difference between the indexes. Yeah, my index is .20 lower for next year. I just spent a bunch of money on the car, so I'll be right back where I was... at the bottom of the sheet, a danger to no one but myself. ;) $.02, |

If I'm reading correct, these are the new classes for the "new" 08-present year cars?? **Never mind. Found my answer in another post** |

Re: NHRA Releases New Class Indexes
DragPak 5.7 stick (Luke Ubelhor ran 10.1's in E/S at Indy); maybe the 5.9 DP automatic. Maybe a few others (352 Mustangs ran D and E/SA).
