Division 3 Tech
With all the recent bashing of the NHRA, some justified some not, I felt compelled to write a positive note. At the recent NHRA Division 3 race we set the E/SA record. This of course involved a full tear down. This was done outside at the tech trailer. In the middle of it all it started to rain. The tech guys found a Pop Up canopy and put it up over the front of the car to keep myself and my wife dry as well as the car. They also set up a table for me put tools and parts on. Even got me towels. The tech portion, while always stressful, was done in an absolute professional manner and any and all questions/concerns I had were answered swiftly and politely. They used my checking lifters and found them to be a few thou shorter than the lifters in the car and went to the trouble of taking them apart and shimming them to be correct before doing valve lift. After it passed they even helped me put the intake back on as I was starting to suck wind by then. In conclusion I would like to extend a very sincere thank you to Travis and the whole Division 3 crew for making this as pleasurable an experience as one of these things can be. Especially since I was the only knucklehead there to set a record and make them do a tear down on a cold, rainy, crappy Friday afternoon/evening.

Re: Division 3 Tech
I think most differentiate between Div Tech guys and the higher ups that seem to hand down uneven rulings, and probably the "out-of-nowhere" monetary fine
We been torn down 9 times, 3X for records and 6 for looky-loos, in Div 2,3,4,5 & 7 and have been treated very well (except once at Pomona!) Can't get any better than Travis or Wesley, although everyone has been professional and helpful; I believe Don was involved in the Davidson tear down, and he is as straight arrow as they come I hope SRAC is looking at this off-screen |

Re: Division 3 Tech
Our three SS cars took turns being inspected at many national events. I have to say we were always treated fairly by the tech officials. Travis and Wesley are great. Brian Bachelder was also friendly.

Re: Division 3 Tech
I thought Travis and crew did a fantastic job last weekend in teardown after my record run in Bowling Green..
They were very professional. |
Re: Division 3 Tech
Travis Miller is as good as they come, a stand up guy, no BS, and either knows the right answer, or knows where to find it. The guy loves the sport and the cars. Like Bill "Redman" Floyd, Travis is not just a tech guy or staff, they are friends of the sport and the racers. I am proud to know them, and consider myself fortunate.

Re: Division 3 Tech
You know I was going to post something about how truly valuable these guys are in our sport a week or so ago after running into Travis at the chassis shop where my car is getting a new cage installed. The question and concern I have is who is going to fill their shoes when they've had enough? You can't buy the experience and knowledge these guys have unless you've been in the trenches for 45 years like they have. Like Travis told me he could tech John Force's Funny Cars but he loves Stock and Super Stock and it shows.

Re: Division 3 Tech
Travis is awesome. And FYI, he likes homemade chocolate chip cookies, and if you have an extra hot dog, bring some down for him and the guys at fuel check/scales. A little nice is always appreciated - they deserve it!
