IT WAS A TYPO Gary was racing his 78 Mustang ll WITH A 302 2BARREL IN U/SA
the85 V-8 IS STICK ONLY AND CANNOT GO LOWER THAM M/S ANYWAY NATURAL L CAR

I think they hp the wrong year car, should have been Gary's 1978 mustang 2 U/SA. Tom

I just sent an e-mail to NHRA, I'm thinking someone didn't change the info on the computer in the tower and then what ever is on there is the info for the event

Although the LX model is a natural L car (barely), a GT hatchback, and especially a GT convertible can fit well below M/S. Absolutely correct on the 85 302 Mustang being stick only, with a carb, although an automatic was available with the CFI throttle body fuel injection.
The 302 2 barrel in Summers Mustang 11 was available with both a stick or automatic.
