Tyler's crash
Gina and I wanted to take a minute and say thanks to everyone who helped and showed concern for us since the crash Sunday. It means more than you could imagine.
Tyler is fine...he had a headache yesterday and his back was a little sore, but he went to school and all is good today. The car is mess, but it will return...all of the top side sheet metal will have to be replaced except the doors and they will need some work. The front subframe will have to be replaced also. The bottom of the car from rocker to rocker is surprising straight and the cage/chassis is rock solid. It will be a long road but I'm looking forward to it. We already took the doghouse and doors off, removed the motor and trans, and looked the front suspension over pretty good. Gina and I thank God that he was able to walk away without a scratch, bruise, or bump on him anywhere. We were also very thankful that the D'agnolo's car was not involved, this could have been so much worse in so many ways. We have had several racers offer cars, and I appreciate it from the bottom of my heart...but we are going to stay close to home for a while and work on the car. My dad, my brother and I built the Camaro together. My son, my brother and I will rebuild it together...that's the way Dad would have wanted it. Thanks again to all! |

Re: Tyler's crash
I am very thankful Tyler is okay, that was a nasty ride he took! He is a great young man, with a great attitude, and I am proud to say I have the pleasure of knowing him personally! He is going to, or should I say, he already is a fabulous racer, who understands every aspect of going from point A to point B. You guys will get it back together, and it will be as nice of a racecar as it was, I know how you guys are about your stuff! If I can support you as far as machining (custom, or fabricated) parts in any way, let me know, and I will be glad to help.
I always look forward to watching Tyler at the races, because I have one not that far behind him, and that excites me about the future of drag racing! |
Re: Tyler's crash
Happy to hear that Tyler is doing fine Charlie. Good luck to you all and I'm looking forward to seeing the car when it's done. I'm sure it will be as beautiful as the rest of your cars.

Re: Tyler's crash
I am also glad your boy is okay. I was going over every part of the run with my 9 year old boy as well and trying to show him what can happen in the game of racing. I got down to the car when the crew was pulling him out and I wouldn't have hesitated to jump in and help if needed. I hope you keep us posted on what you find wrong with the car and share that so we all can learn from this. After he was out of the car I noticed that there was gas running down the back glass and into the cockpit of the car. I would love for you to show or tell us what happened there so we all can make sure to address this possible problem in our own cars that our sons will drive someday too.
Sorry for your loss but the important thing is your boy is okay. I look forward to seeing the car rebuilt. |
