Slick reccomendation

Hey guys. I wanted to see if I could get some opinions/advice on slicks for the wifes car. While it's a bracket car...I felt asking here would be good since you guys know small tire stuff.

88 firebird, 383 glide, & 9" (4.56) with all new TA & suspension pcs. Car should run 6.80-90 off the Tbrake. I'm looking at either a 28 X 10.5 or a 29 X 9 hoosier. Wheel wells have been modified so either will fit. I have 8" rims.

Thank you all in advance.

Since you have 8" rims and unless you're willing to swap to 10", I would go with the 9" wide tire.

Since you're bracket racing and looking for a consistent hook I would try the wider tire. Jim is right that 10" rims are preferred (for either choice) but would try wider first and then get new rims if needed.

Appreciate the feedback. I know some stockers run the 29 x 9 but I didn't know if the 28 was very popular. I had looked at radial slicks but I want to focus on consistency not et. Hoosier shows the 18155 as a 8-10" rim so Its one I'm looking at.
