Slick reccomendation
Hey guys. I wanted to see if I could get some opinions/advice on slicks for the wifes car. While it's a bracket car...I felt asking here would be good since you guys know small tire stuff.
88 firebird, 383 glide, & 9" (4.56) with all new TA & suspension pcs. Car should run 6.80-90 off the Tbrake. I'm looking at either a 28 X 10.5 or a 29 X 9 hoosier. Wheel wells have been modified so either will fit. I have 8" rims. Thank you all in advance. |
Re: Slick reccomendation
Since you have 8" rims and unless you're willing to swap to 10", I would go with the 9" wide tire.

Re: Slick reccomendation
Since you're bracket racing and looking for a consistent hook I would try the wider tire. Jim is right that 10" rims are preferred (for either choice) but would try wider first and then get new rims if needed.

Re: Slick reccomendation
Appreciate the feedback. I know some stockers run the 29 x 9 but I didn't know if the 28 was very popular. I had looked at radial slicks but I want to focus on consistency not et. Hoosier shows the 18155 as a 8-10" rim so Its one I'm looking at.
