Tom Compton's Promise to us at the US Nationals
Mr Compton got up in front of us at the US Nationals Racers appreciation dinner and stated that "at times NHRA had not treated the racers well, and from that time on they would try to do a better job".Just wondering if anyone has seen any changes since then? Not trying to start a bash fest, just would like to hear some opinions. One thing i would like to see is that the Stocker round money at the US Nationals come in line with the rest of the categories. Why do we,the biggest class ,have to wait till the 3rd round to get any payback.Anyone else got any ideas?

Re: Tom Compton's Promise to us at the US Nationals
Last time I had a idea I was waiting at the US nationals payout window in 2000 waiting for my whopping $500 check after going 5 rounds in SS watching the Greek collect $1700 and he never even qualified, that's when we compared checks and operational costs and he told me to get a fuel car RIGHT THEN AND THERE the idea for the ORIGINAL USCN was born
as far as believing ANYTHING Compton ever tells a sportsman racer, DON'T! Twice I WAS SUMMONED TO HIS PRESENCE both times I was picked up and delivered to him by Unk, once in St louis, and the second time was at the 2001 World Finals was fed a load of crap both times :( nothing came of either meeting, other than he wanted assurances that susequent USCN wouldn't bump heads with other NHRA national events again ;) |

Re: Tom Compton's Promise to us at the US Nationals
The NHRA is always willing and able to put the sportsman across the street from the race like they've done twice at the Route 66 event. This past year, it wasn't even that muddy as they could have accommodated many rigs, but found it convenient to keep us across the street.
