1970-72 classification of 68 chevelle ss 396/375
What classes in 1970-72 would this car fit in stock and super stock? Thanks!

Trick question? You can't fit a 1968 in a 70-72 class. 1968 Chevelle would run A-B-C in stock...E-F-G in superstock.

Wondering what class a 68 chevelle ss 396/375 would have been in in the early seventies. Both stock and super stock.

Building a barn find super stock clone. Basically everything is early period correct except the engine, a 496.
Think it is a ss/ea but not sure what the classifications were then. Were stick and auto together? Anyone got 70-72 rule books that can look it up? |

According to my handy "1973" rule book, Super Stock was in half pound increments with A being 6.00-6.49 B-6.50-6.99 and so on down to O where they went to one pound increments.
In stock, A was 8.00-8.49 B-8.50-8.99 and so on down to O, where they went to one pound increments. No idea what the horsepower rating was then. 1973 was also the year stock rules changed quite a bit but I don't remember if the weight breaks changed. |
