Anybody Use The Kestrel 4250?

Thinking about getting one of these little weather machines. Anybody have any experience with these? How do they compare to the PA-2? Jim

I have one that I have used for a couple of years (no Bluetooth), and it works well for me. I know there are some fancy weather stations out there, but for the money these work well. I will probably update to the Bluetooth model, looks like that would be a good tool to help with data collection

We've had one for several years, it works flawlessly. The Bluetooth thing is new, might be time to upgrade

Just bought used one on ebay for 175. Seems to check out with mechanical barometer and psychrometer. Can't wait to put it to use :D

Jim,

I used one for 3 years( not using it now as upgraded) and never had an issue other than the original calibration for Baro and alt/ ( had to convert from Kilopascales ) and estimate actual altitude for my location. However once set, it remained steady. The wind meter is good in the staging lanes, and using the 'history" helps find irregularities. Just have to be conscious of the sample rate so as not to run out of storage or battery life. Mine was old enough that there was no blue tooth to worry about. used the weather log if there were time delays from run to actually getting back to trailer to record.

For the money, I don't think you can get any better.

Have used mine for 4 plus seasons, just change the battery once a year whether it needs it or not. I love it. Like with any other weather measurement, just be consistent where you take it and don't leave it in your car! Got mine from Biondo. It has all the measurements you need to know to predict.....wind speed, water grains, etc. Your losses will not be due to miss-dial......unless you screw up the math........just the starting line and stripe....like all the mere mortals.
