Buddy Gross

Not many if any of the newer class guys will remember Buddy, but he raced a old cutlass convertible, guessing it hasn't be out in 20 years or so. He was a member of the Lattimore-Dodson-Gross team that raced a lot in division 1 and 2. He passed away Monday Nov 18th, big man with an even bigger heart he will be missed. BTW, when I spoke with him in August he wanted me to let everyone know he still kept up with all you guys and gals as he kept his Dragster and Drag Review's coming. Were losing a lot of good people way to fast.

Very sorry to hear this.

I remember Buddy very well he was a all around good guy,we raced each other for the G/SA class wally at the 1975 Summer Nationals ,he won and then got bounced for a Cam that was to big . He offered to hang out and help take my car apart.
Seen him a few times after that always had a smile and we would joke about the cam.

May he R.I.P.

Buddy was a great person, I knew him as a little kid running around the pits of many tracks as him and my stepdad where friends racing in stock and superstock up and down the east coast and at Jene Calhoun speed shop . Rest in peace.

No Mark, That was the SS/K that Bobby and I raced. I found a 70 442 conv. sitting on all four brake drums at Stohlman Olds in Alexandria Va. in around 1974. I bought it for $900.00 and took it to Bud at the speed shop and told him to junk the Duster he had. My ribs are still bruised from the squeezin I got. It was converted to a 71 and he raced it in G/SA ----It's sitting in his car port as raced 20 sum years ago. Dennis ---it was 1 degree too much overlap measured on Greg X's masking tape :) ----- There's not enough room on here to tell all the great stories. Like the one of Buddy sitting in a lawn chair with a Budweiser in each hand riding thru Woodbridge on the roof of his station wagon tow car with the cops trying to pull us over, that will come over a few dozen beers some night. Buddy was a smart, big-- but gentle man and loyal friend who will be genuinely missed by all that knew him--------God Bless

I'm sorry to hear this. I knew him from the early days of stock racing and used to visit him almost every Sat. at his speed shop. He was a great guy and fun to hang out with. May he rest in peace. Like Danny said.....a true friend.
