Stumbled across this. Thought it might be worth a look to someone? Don't have much knowledge of Buick engines, so not real sure of the HP potential.
Missing the carburetor, not a real problem for NHRA. What about IHRA P/S? Rules say OEM carb, I take that to mean an original, no Edelbrock replacement carb allowed? Finding blocks, cranks and rods, heads for 70's era Buicks would likey be another headache.

Car might be too heavy and hard to make sufficient power. Food for thought. If my driveway wasn't full of junk right now, I'd be tempted to go look at it.

1970 350 is rated 315 hp,the same as a 71,72 455!!The 4 bl intake on the 350 is worth $100.

70 sucks as a derby car anyway, 71-76 are best for that. Anyone who pays 850 for a derby car that's not an Imperial or 71-76 GM wagon is on crack anyway.

PS...I have an 800cfm Qjet core if someone tackles this...

I tend to agree. Thinks it's pricey. At least for my purpose or intentions. I would strip it of usable pieces, core it out, then sell the hulk for scrap.

Looks like the 4 barrel engine puts it in a natural class of M. Could move to N and not need a rollbar. Just what this thing would need, more weight! You're looking a 13 flat index with a 4000lb car.

Haven't checked the numbers on the 70 intakes. I have a few 73, 74 intakes, heads, blocks sitting around with a few oddball number pieces also. Intakes are good for weight in the back of a pickup.....
