S/S gt weight classification 1965 Malibu

If I understand correctly In superstock gt the class has to be determined using the shipping weight of the heaviest engine. I see the heaviest is 3165 on nhra classification. With a hp factor of 200, this would make it 3165/200= 15.825, making it a natural gt/m. Am I going about this correctly? If I am does this mean I can make the minimum weight 2970?
Gt/m = 14.0 or more, so 14.0x200+170=2970. Thanks

You need to try it this way.

The heaviest 65 Malibu is 3115 while the heaviest Malibu SS is 3350 with a big block 396. (You did not go on down to the rest of the 65 Chevelle section.)

The first thing to do is subtract the allowable 250 from the shipping weight for the lightest weight. Then divide the horsepower into that number.

3115 - 250 = 2865/200 = 14.32 (car cannot go to top of class)

2865 + 170 for driver = 3035 in GT/M

Travis,
Thanks that does make since. The car is a Malibu ss. I guess if I take the badges off I can classify it as a malibu. And use the 3035 weight?

1965 Malibu had a chrome strip down the side of the car and bench seat.

So I would have to put a chrome strip Down the side?

Yes or you can claim the heavier Malibu SS. Do your research and find pictures of the side of a 65 Malibu. You will see where the chrome was located.
