Reformating LODRS
How about adding 1/2 the points that a regular points meet gives to National Opens, so there is more opportunity to make points without having to drive through two states to get to a Points meet?

I think that adding a division or two so that people can make more races with less towing miles. Also with the regional series for the alcohol cars, open it up for more points races in a division with lower cost to track owners.

Re: Reformating LODRS
make ALL NHRA divisional races doubles. that would solve a lot of issues. this was IHRA's best idea to date.

Re: Reformating LODRS
Doubles! they have a hard time just getting one race in. remember IHRA points races only have 25 % of the cars a NHRA race has.

Re: Reformating LODRS
Pay some real money to the winners. That would really work say 5k to win

While I like the idea of two races in one weekend, there is NO WAY that it could be done at most races. When you have so many cars,so many classes, shootouts, snowmobiles, and a usual bit of rain,it is hard enough to get ONE race finished. |
Re: Reformating LODRS
I like Chad's idea of adding more divisions. That would help cut down on traveling costs and time off of work. Maybe split D-1 and D-2 into three divisions. (D-1 would be Maryland north, new D-2 would be maybe NC, VA, east TN and KY, and the new D-3 would be SC south) Maybe the same thing can be done with the current D-3 and D-5 by splitting them into three divisions as well. (New D-4 would be MI, IN, OH, new D-5 would be MN, WI, IL maybe IA, and new D-6 would be the western half of the old D-5) Not sure if I can help the other divisions shrink.
I think the doubles idea might work but only at events that don't have alcohol cars. And that's a maybe. I like the idea of 1 or 2 Q runs Friday, 1 Saturday morning and right into the race, but I think if you do doubles you gotta start race 2 Saturday night and eliminate all the shootouts. And yes, increased payouts would most definitely help, but lets be honest...that's not going to happen! Bill Lent O/SA 3158 |

Re: Reformating LODRS
I think points meets are the Sportsman place to play. Long ago the decision was made to make Sportsman a "participant" area. More classes to get more entries, More forms of cars and now snow mobiles to get one thing, Money for the event. The decision was made to end advertising for spectators as it was realized only the racers would understand the dial in format. ( like the week end brackets at most tracks). At a track or division with 1/2the cars a double can work to both advantage. One race weekend double entry money for one event time, a winner for NHRA too.
This cannot work at Div 3 or 1 with car counts. If a big Money sponsor would step up to pay NHRA and racers another class would be added. (T/S, T/D) |
