Black coating on new Wilwood rotors
I just got two new Wilwood brake rotors, they have a black coating on them that they say is to prevent rust. It is called E coating. Has anyone had any experience with this process or these rotors? Does it need to be removed before use or ok to use as they are?

Re: Black coating on new Wilwood rotors
E coating or electrostatic coating is a surface protectant that is sprayed on the part to prevent rusting/corrosion etc. It is also applied for appearance purposes. There is no need to remove it . If you do remove the coating the wear surface of the rotor that the pads rub on will rust. It does not affect braking performance at all if left on. FED 387
