GM Truck Comparison
What is the difference between a GM Truck 2500 & 2500HD ???
Do they both have the same size brakes ?? I will be towing approx. 10,000 lbs. Thx |
Re: GM Truck Comparison
Not exactly sure but I believe that the HD is the new designation of the 2500/3500 series truck--several years back GM had 2 different versions of both the 2500 and the 2500HD--not sure when the changeover occured but now its 1500/2500HD/3500HD--as far as the old version they HD is definately a different vehicle than the "standard" truck---able to haul and tow a bigger payload than the standard vehicle --more stout suspension/brakes/cooling and different power trains available in a HD vs, a regular truck

Re: GM Truck Comparison
The 2500 and the 1500HD are the same trucks just different badges in different years. They are rated as 3/4 ton trucks. They have the 14bolt semi floater vs full floater on the 2500HD. The 2500HD sits a bit higher due to the different frame which allows clearance for the Allison transmission on the Dmax. They share the same rated springs and torsions.
Few smaller items but thats the major difference. |
Re: GM Truck Comparison
For towing, I strongly consider any HD option--the floater rear is probably worthwhile, for example.

Re: GM Truck Comparison
Towing 10 k will have a 3/4 ton truck maxed out. To safely tow that much weight you should look at a dually. Money well spent. Duramax diesel will serve you well.
