Generator Gas Tank
I am putting an Onan generator in my trailer and was wondering
what size auxilary gas tank everyone has? Also any recommendations for gas tank suppliers would be appreciated. |
Re: Generator Gas Tank
I have a onan in my 48' LQ. I use a couple of 6 gallon plastic boat tanks with a quick connect hose. I like this better than a mounted tank because I can take the tanks in my other pick-up to fill them up. Then when I am at the diesel pump I don't have to move to the gas pump to fill gas tank. For weekend races I carry a few 5 gal cans to refill tanks. I also have a small 2000w gen to save fuel and hours on my onan whenever possible.

Re: Generator Gas Tank
Here is a link to pretty good company that makes tanks in all sorts of configurations. You can get them with sending units installed and utilize a remote fuel gauge.

Re: Generator Gas Tank
we use your basic 5 Gal race fuel jugs with a stainless steel pickup pipe/tube tapped into the screw off top with a quick disconnect hose & fitting--easy, cheap and can change jugs quickly for continous operation or for when you need to refill --I have also seen some racers using outboard motor gas tanks they are readily available and easy to move around if you need too

Re: Generator Gas Tank
In case any of you reading this can't sleep and need alittle help getting drowsy, here is link to the 1/2011 dated EPA emissions required for mobile generators. The fuel system will vent back to the tank from the generator. This is now the required installation method for motorhome/trailer builders.
