New to S/Gas, Got couple questions.

My car is 2890 with me in it and runs 8.30's @ 165 in the heat of summer. I tried S/ST but was on the stop for like 5 sec. I raced one event in S/G and liked it much better. I need to lighten it up some and get it to where I need to run some delay in the box. My plan is going to 24" from 25" fronts, lithium battery, fiberglass doors and any other place I can lose weight. Any suggestions on slicks? I currently run 33/16/15 C07 Hoosiers with 81/4 pressure but will be changing wheels and was told that I should go to a 16" wheel at my power level/weight. I am aslo hoping to have my fat butt about 20# lighter also. :) Any other suggestions?

My old Willys was similar weight /HP .
I had no problems running the same size tire on 15" rims, but I did prefer the D06 compound.
I'd expect to loose 5-6 MPH on the stop in SG at that HP level.
I'd find other places than the battery to save weight , you can buy a lot more light stuff for the front end for what one of those batterys cost !
The smaller front tires can be worth a hundreth or two, plus work with the suspension to pick up the R/T.

My thinking on the battery is I was going to go 16v anyway so why not lose 70# from the 2 red tops that I run now.

I'd rather have that 70# in the back, over the wheels.
There are a lot of 2800# cars out there that hit the .370 tree.
Just curious,What is the life expectancy on the L-ION batterys?
I know the recovery time on L-ion batterys is quite quick, but will it stand up to repeated use, especially when you start running back to back rounds?
We were on a 15 min turn around at the Maple Grove National event , and my alternator quit 2nd round. The Red Tops got me thru 3 more rounds with minimal between round charging.

It is supposed to be 1000 cycles life. Taking the 70# off the rear is the one thing that has gave me pause. I am going to 16v, I bought a new trailer so going to use the red tops for that. I may end up just doing the standard 16v setup. Same weight as red tops but 16v. The one race that I ran S/G I lost 2nd rd and my lights were in the .015 to .028 range. I know being more comfortable with the .370 tree will improve that but still want to get the car better as well.
