Gene Waxman Passes
I am sorry to post that Gene Waxman passed way today. Gene fought the good fight but this morning lost his battle with Congestive Heart Failure. Most of you who have been racing a while are familiar with Gene. Gene was one of those guys who knew everyone and everyone knew him. His long detailed stories and humor will be greatly missed. I will try and post details of his service.
I will never forget Indy 1990 when at dinner at Steak 'n Ale he convinced the rather nice looking manager that he was legally blind and she kept taking him arm in arm to and from the salad bar. She came over after taking him several times and asked why he left a trail of croutons from the salad bar back to where he was seated, he told her it was so he could find his way back just in case she didn't come back for him again. God Speed my friend. Jim . |

Sure going to miss Gene. There
will be stories told about Gene for a long time to come. If it was done Gene did it. RIP Hammer |

Years ago, we're at a divisional (Warner Robins, I think) We're working on my pit bike that wouldn't fire. The Wacker grabs the plug wire and says "go ahead, kick it over now" Bill Shurla looks at me..like, who's this guy? I told him later, .. You have to know him! RIP, Geno |
Re: Gene Waxman Passes
Sorry to hear of his passing...I met Gene once at Indy many years ago. Think he was
running a lower class Chevy stocker there...possibly a wagon? Seemed like a nice guy.... God Bless Gene Waxman! |
