No SCS in Memphis? |
Re: Memphis ADRL
What is interesting about this is all the WanaBe Heads Up Racers won't go unless they are assured a win! History repeats itself. AHRA GT1, GT2, GT3 IHRA GT1 & GT2 IHRA SUPER MODIFIED IHRA FACTORY MODIFIED IHRA TOP STOCK
These are are all Heads Up Elminators that died because of lack of support. |

Re: Memphis ADRL
Too much hurricane cleanup at home for us to make it. Didn't get back from Indy till late Monday night and work all week.
Would love to have gave it a whirl, but have to take care of home first! Just sad to see an organization give us racers what most of us want, but unfortunately don't get the support. We're likely to make some next year. Brett Candies 4192 Stock/SS |

Hope to see you at Dallas, Brett! In any case, this was released Tuesday after the Indy rainout and posted all over the InterNet. (NOTE: It is not MY problem if you never saw it!) IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT FROM THE ADRL SUPERCAR SHOWDOWN SERIES: As many people are aware, the recent rainout and rescheduling of the NHRA U.S. Nationals in Clermont, Indiana, has created a difficult situation for many racers who planned to compete at this weekend’s ADRL Memphis Drags III at Memphis (TN) International Raceway. While competition at Memphis begins on Friday, the NHRA event will resume on Saturday and presents an impossible scenario for competitors who planned to compete in both events. The situation is especially troublesome for the drivers who regularly compete in the ADRL’s SuperCar Showdown Eliminator. Since these racers are relegated to sportsman competition at NHRA events, those who hope to resume action at Indy will be involved in eliminations on Saturday at the U.S. Nationals. Most of our regular SCS competitors are still in competition at Indy. The instant the NHRA announced the rescheduling of the event, the ADRL staff was contacted by several SCS racers, (including Bo Butner, who won the NHRA’s inaugural Factory Stock Showdown), to express their exasperation over which race they would attend the weekend of September 7-9. In Butner’s case, he immediately devised a plan to race at both Memphis and Indy. Bo insisted he could haul both his Mustang and Chris Holbrook’s Cobra Jet to Memphis to compete in the qualifying rounds on Friday at Memphis and then, late Friday night, make the five hundred-mile drive back to Indy for eliminations on Saturday morning. The fact he is still in the running at the world’s most prestigious drag race but he thinks so highly of the ADRL’s SuperCar Showdown to consider this sacrifice is, quite frankly, one of the most amazing displays of dedication we’ve seen to this new category. However, the ADRL SuperCar Showdown staff told Butner, (in no uncertain terms), to “stay in Indy and win the U.S. Nationals”. Even then, Butner resisted but the ADRL made clear its desire for Butner and all the other SCS contenders to remain at the U.S. Nationals and shoot for the sport’s biggest title. Many racers at Indy, (including Butner, Chris Holbrook, the entire Skillman family, Jimmy Ronzello, Wes Wells, Rick Rodgers, Kevin Helms, Randi Lyn Shipp, Jimmy DeFrank, Leonard Mattingly, David Buckner and Bo Kenney), have supported the ADRL SCS series from its start and have put heads-up production automobile drag racing on the motorsports map. We can never thank them enough for what they’ve done and the ADRL will never stand between them and a drag racer’s greatest goal. While these circumstances force the possibility of a lack of entrants in the SuperCar Showdown at Memphis, we hope the fans of the SCS will join us in wishing those in competition at Indy the best of luck in their pursuit of the sport’s premiere title. Go get ’em, kids, and we’ll see you at the ADRL Ohio Drags VI in Norwalk! |
