2000 c3500 2wd dually.....front tires

This truck has 70,000 miles on it, used for towing only.......second set of E range Uniroyals....tires are cupping, sometimes refered to by tire people as "scalloping" but not on the edges, occurs at different places 2nd or 3rd tread over from edge it just "scoops" out like someone dug into it with a spoon at several locations, looks wierd. Front end lined up several times, could this be a shock problem----what brand-model of shock do you recommend ???

I put some Monroe HD gas shocks on my truck and it made a big difference in handling. My truck is a 2001 gmc 3500 2 wd.

Rusty in the past I've spoken with consultants at GM technical assistance about this concern, they always have said frequent tire rotations. They suggest at 5,000 mile intervals.

Is this the HD straight axle chassis ? I just bought a used truck of the same vintage with the 19.5 tires . I was amazed how well it rides with tires like that. I figured that it was just the cheap tires.---Trevor

Very common problem on the Uniroyals.

Sounds like two problems, not enough rotations and worn shocks! SAE came out a few years ago and said that OEM shocks are done at 50k...

Check the front in height, is it sticking up in the air when you have the trailor hooked to it and loaded? If it is it very well could be your problem...You towing a fifth wheel or tag?
