The 9.70 index will mean at INDY we will only run maybe 9.25 (weather) less than 50 under Ron |

We can finish this up on Facebook - as usual I bought what I wanted I do not believe the V10 should be included in the super car class I think it should be the CJs, COPOs and the soon to be announced Dodge crate motor V8 with a blower We can go race with the cars in our class It does not make sense to call it a heads up class by adding 400 pounds to the fastest cars to slow them down to run what the rest of us can run - just my thinking Will we see you out with your CJ again soon? See you at Sonoma buddy Ron |

Mine won't be there. At 9.70 you don't get into Stock Elimiator. There are 50 copo's with a 2 speed, no manuals or 3 speeds but they got a 3 speed. At 3000 lbs minimum for a v8, mine with a 360 (30 lighter than a hemi) weighs 3060 with no driver. Fat chance of getting to minimum. A proposal from Mopar for a 426 Alm block to make it closer on weight by 100 lbs and close the gap from 36 CU IN over our biggest not to mention 4 points of compression was turned down. I think I will just take my 25 cases of beer and run the natural classes.

Re: You asked fo it - here it is NHRA Factory Stock Showdown
First I'll start off by saying this is fantastic! Heads up 1/4 mile! I loved it when the ADRL with its supercar showdown gave a stage for the new factory Drag cars to flex their muscle in competition for king of the strip. Its just I'm more of a "drag racing is 1320" person.
2nd I would like to see this happen at more events. Although Indy is my home track I'd still like to see it branch out and even go divisional. 3rd I think some of you don't realize weather/elevation really affects the blower cars also. It's not like a turbo car that will simply spin the turbine faster or slower until it reaches the desired boost level dictated by the waste gate. Now if we could change pulleys based on weather/altitude change........... The positive displacement blower draws in a fixed amount of air per engine revoulution and is very sensitive to inlet restriction and air quality. It can only compress the air that it draws in. Less air in means less air that can be compressed. A supercharged car can lose easily 40+HP(low ball figure) because of IATs telling the computer to yank timing over a certain temp at any point of a run. We have our own issues on this side of the fence also. It's not all just sunshine and lollipops. So in conclusion. I'm excited about the heads up aspect of it and would like to see more of the heads up action take place in the future. See everyone in Indy. |
