Oh - well
I was NOT told to keep this confidential - so ......
The index is not decided yet, but they are looking at a 9.80 index. The minimum weights for the Factory Stock Showdown are as follows. Naturally aspirated under 450 CID 3050Lbs Naturally aspirated 451 plus CID 3575Lbs (that would only be us - the V10s) Supercharged 3675Lbs I don't think the V8 Drag Paks can get that light and if they can it won't make a difference So I guess it will be a blower class for CJs and COPOs I doubt we can get .50 under at INDY with that index - DNQ RON |

Very interesting!

Re: Oh - well
A 9.80 index makes no sense. The supercharged CJs get to weigh almost 400 lbs less in AA/S and that's with a 10.00 index. I would think around 10.40 would be closer.
If those are the rules they decide on, I think the 427 COPOs may be hard to beat if someone gets a good motor built by Indy and they can get light enough. |
Re: Oh - well
They won't have to worry about the V-8 Drag Paks, even if we could get to 3100 we can't touch the supercharged cars. The V-10's need more than 100lbs to have any chance but it will probably end up being a Cobra Jet shootout unless a Camaro makes it by Indy. Nothing against the Cobra Jets, they are amazing cars. The blown Camaros should give them a lot of competition though. It would be nice to have a supercharger...........
