Toterhomes
With the trend of more racers towing with toterhomes, there has to be alot of knowledgable people out there. I am interested in what to look for, what brands have had a good or bad record, sticks vs. auto, mileage, or any other constuctive help I should look for. I am looking in the used, not new market. With the cost of new crewcabs so high, a good used toter becomes more of a deal. You can also call at 763-227-3366 or dyno5583@aol.com Thanks, Dan
Adm., please move if in the wrong area. thanks |
Re: Toterhomes
Don't know if this will apply or not but I just bought a used Freightliner FL 60 business class (four door dually) that works better than any of the new pick-up trucks..I have a 44' LQ trailer and it pulls like a dream.
As for fuel mileage, I get 11.9 running empty at 65 mph..didn't ck when I was towing (forgot). It's a 6 speed Allison auto with a 5.9 Cummins and this is my first diesel so I'm pleased........really pleased ! |
Re: Toterhomes
I have a 2008 Pony express toter. 15 ft box with super slide. Freightliner M2 chassis w/ mercedes 330 hp diesel. Alison 6 speed auto. The quality is excellent. fuel mileage is around 9 - 10 mpg towing a 40 ft gooseneck at about 14000 lbs. good power and easy to drive.

Re: Toterhomes
First thing to do on a used toter is to look under the matress for the bed above the drivers compartment. Many toters have a leak in the front corners. If the one you are looking at leaks you will notice the water stains/mildew under the matress. My buddy got a "awesome" deal on a united specialities toter and then found out that this problem is why. If you look around you can find new repos that are not much more than a used one.
