Need help putting gas in your car

Fueling Guidelines for The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway
The Clark County Fire Department has approved the following fueling guidelines for the upcoming National event. Adherence to these guidelines is necessary to reduce the chance of static electricity causing a fire during fueling operations.

Main Fuel Depot

The container being filled and the nozzle dispensing the fuel must be electrically bonded.

If a vehicle is being filled directly from the tank, the tank and the vehicle must be electrically bonded.

Pit Fueling/Mixing Operations

Where dispensing/mixing occurs into a metal container, the metal containers must be electrically interconnected. This can be achieved by either placed the container on a metallic floor plate where dispensing container’s fill stem is electrically connected to the plate or bonding the fill stem of the dispensing container to the fill container.

Where dispensing/mixing occurs into a plastic container, the container must be placed on a metallic floor plate to which the dispensing container’s fill stem is bonded.

Vehicle Fueling in the Pits

When fuel is dispensed into a vehicle in the pits, the two shall be connected with a bonding wire regardless of the material that the container is made of.

NHRA will be selling "bonding wire" at the track for those who show up without one. lmao.

That is how it is done with airplanes. But I must say I have never bothered with doing it in a car.

NHRA will probably have people watching the pits and fine you for not using your grounding strap.

There was a fire recently in the pits at a NASCAR race as they were dumping fuel in a storage tank on a truck. Was this at Los Wages ? ---Trevor

Think that was Regan Smith's team transfering fuel back after the race in Talladega.

I called NHRA yesterday to find out how to get an NHRA license out of my IHRA license. I already paid $180 I think for the NHRA physical and EKG. Now she says I need to tow to another state and get a track operator and division director to sign off on it. If I do all this I probably still wont be able to figure out how to put gas in my car in Vegas or how many aerosol cans I can spray at Pomona. I think it would be best if I cut my NHRA plans off now, before I get started.

There was a note sent to all registered competitors for last falls race just like this.
I did make a grounding wire for my jugs and car.
I also bought fuel there last fall and the VP trailer had bonding wires and they used them when filling my jugs.
One of the racers parked down a few trailers from me was warned about not using a bonding wire when filling his race car by one of the NHRA guys who was driving around calling the classes to the lanes. He just informed the racer what was required but did not threaten anything. That racer did make it know around him what NHRA had told him. Most of us were aware from the email but I did not see very many racers use the bonding wires.
My 2 Cents

Actually - Clark Holroyd started selling an anti-static clip on connector for use to avoid fires - he is a life long fireman

He thought it was a real danger
