The 2013 Cobra Jets were tested (again) over the last few days, but not at Bradenton. Jimmy Ronzelo and I made over 60 runs, mainly for durability. As you can imagine, I am not allowed to say what the cars ran. NHRA has yet to approve the hp and the class, so the elapsed times are moot at this point anyway.

I can say the supercharged version will probably be a BB/SA (note the word probably because I am guessing) and the NA car a B/SA or C/SA based on the hp and weight. The 5.0 is an impressive engine and can take a real beating. We were literally, at some points, lapping every 15 minutes.

If any of you could see what goes into building and testing one of these cars you'd be impressed. These are not just slapped together cars, the Ford team does basically what many serious racers do, they come up with ideas and test them. There is hours and hours of testing and building and tuning and wrenching to produce a turn-key car that is very competitive and reliable, consistent, safe, and easy to drive.

Evan, as always your reporting and keeping us informed is much appreciated !!! Basically sitting here waiting to see how this turns out with NHRA and the cars classification. I will say I was very dissapointed the 2013 Coyote Cobra Jet is only available minus the 3rd pedal  Any insight as to why Ford chose not to offer a stick version at least for the N/A version ?

Can't Ford at least "offer" a stick version so guys can build their own in the future??? It just has to be an option right?

Thanks, I'm working on them to produce a few stick models, because the NA 5.0 would be a really fun combo with a manual trans. I'm glad you like my reporting, I try to stick with the facts.

Re: 2013 5.0 Mustang testing at Bradenton

Just because Ford doesn't build one that is a manual transmission doesn't mean that there won't be a classification for one so that others could build their own correct? After all Ford never built a pushrod 352, 428, modular 3v or (2012) 5.0 or a manual in 2012 or ever a convertible but there are certified combos for those correct? I'm just a stick guy just like Evan. The high winding 4.6 4v manual cars in (now defunct) NMRA Pure Street are a blast! I'm building a stick car to come play in the NHRA just waiting on a few more details and confirmation from Jesse Kershaw on weither the 2013 BIW kit will be available or if I'm starting with a flood damaged car. Mine will be a stick car. Waiting for the word also, on when the seats will be available.*

Side note: they have posted on FRPP the 2013 Cobra Jet engines up on FRPP site. (and the rear wheel/tire set)*
M-6000-SCJ13 for the supercharged engine
M-6000-CJ13 for the NA model.*
