Special thanks to Scott Tilley and Tabitha Draughon for their proactive work in obtaining sponsors for this great program this year.

I'll try to post "LIVE from..." the event on this thread.

Great day here at Piedmont Dragwayfor the first CCRA event, sponsored by Ultimate Converter Concepts. Looks like a good field, I'd say at least 35+ cars. Defending champ Homer Carty is sporting some new paint, and I brought decals for a number of people. Got here early and we fixed some issues where the pinion angle had somehow moved dramatically in the car Scott Macy wrenched on it and reset the Caltracs... what a difference! Smoothest the car's ever felt, and already printin' tickets. Last qualifier called to the lanes now...

Sorry for the lack of updates during the day. Things went through really smooth and fast today. Had a great start to the day, reeling off three 6.67's in a row, the last one dead-on 2 to take the dash for cash, then managed to hold off a tough crowd for the win. 35 cars made first round on the blustery high 40's, no-barometer day. Barely edged Brandon Peterson by .002 in the quarterfinals. Stacey Ridings trailered Mike Longhaney to advance to the semis, and defending series champ Homer Carty showed off his driving skills (and new paint job!) with a .000, dead-on 1 on the bye. In the semis, Ridings went red to Homer, who laid down another impressive run, .009, dead-on 7, and I held the semi bye. In the finals, Homer wrecked the tree yet again with a .004 light, but fell off-pace just enough for the Duck Tape Volare to squeak by for the win.

35 cars: winner's payout was almost $1600, and over $680 to the runner up, plus further payback, bonus programs etc. These deals are 100% payback, so more cars meanes even MORE money. Great program. Thanks once again to Scott and Tabitha, all the series sponsors, and all the folks who have helped me along the way too: Sloan Engines, Southland Speed, Calvert/Moneymaker Racing, Mickey Thompson, CAM2 oil, and Macy Motorsports just to name a few.
