Pacific SportsNationals???
If you look on the schedules you see the Pacific SportsNationals set for Fontana on Oct. 12-14 of this year......... Sign in to register for a National event and it shows Fontana on 5/04/12. Those dates are a tad different. Anyone got an update? Anyone hear anything?

Re: Pacific SportsNationals???
According to Mike English Fontana is padlocked for the forseeable future by judicial decree!

Re: Pacific SportsNationals???
They ran a Summit Series race last weekend. Mufflers NOT required. Seems the limit is now 85DB's in the front yard of the guy who has been complaining, who is located about 1/4 mile away, behind the railroad tracks. Apparently only very loud cars would exceed the limit.
The case is still pending in the courts. |
Re: Pacific SportsNationals???
Hi John,
We have raced at Fontana and have heard the trains over the noise of our engine.... I wonder what the trains db reading is when they are coupling or running down the track?????? It sure sounds louder than 85db or maybe the trains are exempt from the noise limit???? Take care, Bob |
Re: Pacific SportsNationals???
Read Bill Koski post, I think the case is no longer pending.

Re: Pacific SportsNationals???
An update to my previous post.
I called the track and a recording says racing has been canceled due to "unforeseen circumstances" and refers callers to the track website, which has no further info on it. A story appears on Competition Plus. There was a Summit race last weekend, perhaps the final one. |

Ok. Please don't contact me about this until I know more but the track is shutdown until the EIR gets resolved. I don't know a time frame or details but that is the latest. Please do not contact me. Not much I can do from the hospital. |
Re: Pacific SportsNationals???
This is what was posted on the tracks website yesterday:
A Superior Court has suspended operation of the Auto Club Dragway. The suspension results from a successful challenge of a San Bernardino County sound standard by a group of concerned residents. San Bernardino County officials had approved an amendment to the County Sound Standard in 2010 to accommodate louder sound arising from races at the Dragway. The Superior Court found that the underlying Environmental Impact Report which the County relied on to approve the sound standard amendment was not sufficient. We are currently reviewing the court ruling and evaluating our options moving forward. We hope to have more detailed information about our future operations at the Dragway soon. The NHRA Street Legal Drags on Saturday, March 3rd will be canceled. Here is the link: http://www.autoclubspeedway.com/Tick...b-Dragway.aspx |
Re: Pacific SportsNationals???
Bakersfield is avalible Oct. 5 -7. It might be time to explore alternate sites for this event with the lastest court ruling. Now if NHRA and Bakersfield management can get over thier pissing match that's another matter.
