nhra does believe in Parity after all
For Pro Mod that is. Love the part about keeping costs down.
http://www.nhraracer.com/content/gen...757&zoneid=132 But not so much for Stock and Super Stock. I guess nhra staff understands the definition of Parity. But nhra doesn't appear to understand, that as a rule making organization, Parity must apply to competitors in all categories. |

From the dark side. Somebody post a picture of Darth Vador (Vader) whatever.

I like the "Cost savings"
Now if you want to race go out and buy these turbos. Oh, and buy another block/pistons and/or crank and downsize your engine. I think the turbo guys took it in the pocketbook. For sure it will slow down their "Run Away" with the class. |

How about this?

Re: nhra does believe in Parity after all
Why limit it to one turbo manufacturer only ??? I know Precision make a great product, but there are others just as good.

Re: nhra does believe in Parity after all
This turbo source limitation is just another facet of NHRA's iron-fisted approach to "keeping the cost of racing down," like their across-the-board BAN on pneumatic valve springs.
Formula I has been using pneumatic VALVE SPRINGS (NOT actuators) exculsively, for many years. The outrageous price of a set of Titanium valve springs for a 10,000+ rpm motor with 1-inch + valve lift (Pro Stock and Top Alcohol Funny Car come to mind) has to be a major part of those teams' budget, because thy only last a few runs... but NHRA is keeping the cost of racing down... Gee, I wonder how that ACROSS THE BOARD BAN ever got into the rule book??? Multi-valve, F-1 dohc engines that spin 20,000 rpm and have to last for many miles, have a formidable engineering task when it comes to valve springs; they choose AIR. I'd bet that a 2-valve drag racing engine that spins HALF those RPM's for a few seconds, would be a cake-walk for the design engineers at Del West engineering in Arizona... Just sayin'... |
