Teflon or silicone?
 
What do you guys prefer to use on BB Chevy head bolts? I know....I know......another stupid Ford guy!:D

Teflon seals well,but alters the torque reading. Permatex 300 (aviation)

I have used both permatex and teflon paste for the threads in the deck surface. Both work.
If you can afford them I think studs are a much better way to go, as the head bolts tend to corrode where the are inside the water jacket and sometimes they ruin the threaded hole in the block when you remove them.

ARP teflon sealant works well on head bolts. I do run studs in anything where the rules allow it, that solves head bolt problems permanently. Changing to studs from bolts will likely have an effect on how round the cylinder bore is with the heads torqued. If the block was bored/honed with torque plates, that does matter.
